Ps4 Pro Internet Speed
I upgraded my internet speed from 50mb download to 100mb download so Time Warner told me i will need a new modem to receive the full speed. After trying to setup the modem and running into some problems with it, i finally got it to work but now on my PS4 and PS3 i receive lower speeds than before. My main concern is the PS4 though. I have it wired to my router and that connected to the modem. I tried connecting it directly to the modem but it made no difference. On my computer i receive full speed from the new Modem. I contacted Sony to see if it was a problem with the PS4 and newer modems and they told me to restore to factory settings and then to open some ports and set NAT type to 2. I did all of that and no change, I think its the new modem that is the problem.
Router: Linksys E2000
Modem: Arris TG1672G
Devices connected to router: WiFi (Two cell phones) Wired ( Two PCs, PS4, PS3)
PS4 speeds Old Modem: 40-50 DL and 5-9 UP
PS4 speeds New Modem: 25-40 DL and 1.5-4 UP
PC speeds New Modem: 80-100 DL and 8-10 UP
With the new modem i had some problems setting it up. It was a Router/Modem but the TWC WiFi software that i was given wouldn't work properly. I had a wired to connection to the modem from my PC at this time because i removed the Linksys router to see if i could use the built in router. The program couldn't find a network adapter even though i was on the internet, so i couldn't set up WiFi from it. I believe they later disconnected the router ability from their side. So i then connected back my Linksys to the Modem but connected both PCs to the Modem instead.
I then ran into another problem, every time i turned off my PC and turned it back on it would give some error about ip configuration and i would have to reboot the modem and let troubleshoot configure to connect. I believe the Router and Modem were giving two different ip addresses. I called TWC and they said to only plug into Linksys router and that solved the problem.
Today i tried running the TWC WiFi software again to see if maybe i need to enable the ports on the modem and this time it found a network adapter when I'm connected to the Linksys router but when it tried to setup afterwards it said something about can't connect to gateway. The WiFi is probably still turned off so maybe that's why.
I have no idea why i have lower speeds on my PS4 even though the internet is faster and i haven't added extra devices. Anyone know what to do? If i can't find a solution i will either have to lower my speed back to 50 and see if i can get back my old modem or pay for even faster internet and hope it raises the PS4 speed enough so i can use it for what i want.
